In John 6:35–40, Jesus gives the crowd a clear invitation: come to Him, believe in Him, and receive eternal life. The people had seen His miracles and heard His teaching, yet many still would not entrust themselves to Him. Their struggle raises the same question for us today: Will we merely know things about Jesus, or will we commit our lives to Him?
In this message, Pastor Bob Bailey explains that biblical belief is more than agreeing that Jesus exists. To believe means to place our faith in Him, entrust ourselves to Him, and live in obedience to His Word.
The message centers on three important truths:
We must believe Jesus.
The Gospel of John repeatedly calls us to believe—not merely with our words, but through a life committed to Christ. When we struggle with doubt or unbelief, the answer is still to come honestly to Jesus and ask Him to help us believe.
Jesus will receive those who come to Him.
Jesus promises, “Whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” Our past, our failures, and our questions do not place us beyond His reach. His grace welcomes us, but that grace also calls us to repentance: to turn away from sin and pursue a holy life with Him.
We must guard against the slow fade.
Distance from Jesus often begins through small decisions—neglecting Scripture, withdrawing from worship, skipping Christian community, or continually telling ourselves, “I’ll do it next time.” Those choices can gradually become habits. The cycle is broken when we deliberately return to Jesus, worship even when we do not feel like it, and make time in His presence a priority.
Jesus has our best interests at heart. He came to save us, promises not to abandon those who come to Him, and offers eternal life to everyone who looks to the Son and believes.
The invitation is simple but life-changing: come to Jesus, believe Him, trust Him, and remain close to Him.
